As the New Year begins, we are joining with other churches around the world to fast and pray and seek God's will for our lives during the first month of the year. And believe for another Great Spiritual Awaking! We will be following along with our Pastor's from the River at Tampa Bay Church to pray in Unity. This week's purpose is to prepare our hearts to receive all that the Lord has for us by removing distractions, pride, selfish motives and what our flesh wants to do.
James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
We encourage you to set aside time each day to allow the Lord to speak to you. Spend time in Worship, praying in tongues and reading scripture.
Also personalize Paul's prayers in Ephesians and read it twice a day (we have included an example here; you can also read Ephesians 1:15-23)
Ephesians 3:14-21
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant (me), according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in (my) heart through faith; that (I), being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that (I) may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that (I) ask or think, according to the power that works in (me), 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Today Read Psalm 51. A Prayer of Repentance. A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. As you read this Psalm, ask the Lord to highlight any areas that you may need to address in your own life (it may not be adultery or murder; but sin is sin and needs to be dealt with when the light exposes it). Journal what the Holy Spirit shows you and repent if you need to and set your heart on the Lord!
Psalm 51
Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.
4 Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak,
And blameless when You judge.
5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,
And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness,
That the bones You have broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins,
And blot out all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
The God of my salvation,
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.
18 Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion;
Build the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
With burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.
We pray that as you commit this time to the Lord that you will see changes in your life: clear conscience, pure motives, soft heart, re-sensitized spirit and renewed hunger for God!
