There are some things God will only reveal there.
In Jeremiah 18, the Lord spoke to Jeremiah and said, “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words” (Jeremiah 18:2). That word is so powerful because God did not say, “Stay where you are and I’ll explain everything.” He said, “Go… and there I will speak.”
That means there are moments in our walk with God when revelation is tied to movement. Obedience opens the door to hearing. Jeremiah had to get up, go down to the potter’s house, and position himself where God wanted him. It was there that he saw the clay being shaped, marred, and remade. It was there that he understood the message God wanted to give.
Sometimes we are asking God for answers while resisting the very place He told us to go. We want the word, but not the movement. We want the breakthrough, but not the stretching. We want the promise, but not the process.
But there is a place called there — a place where God shapes us, speaks to us, and shows us what He is doing.
For some, “there” is a physical place. For others, it is a spiritual posture. It may be the prayer closet, a step of obedience, a new assignment, a season of surrender, or simply saying yes to what God has already been whispering to your heart.
The beautiful thing is this: when God tells you to go there, He has already prepared something for you in that place.
Jeremiah 18:2 “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.”
Reflection Questions:
Is there a place or step of obedience God has been stirring in my heart?
Have I been asking God to speak while resisting movement?
What might my “potter’s house” look like in this season?
God knows exactly where your next word is. As you obey Him, you will discover that His voice becomes clearer when your heart is willing to move.
