Naaman’s story in 2 Kings 5 is such a picture of how God works.

Naaman was a mighty man, but he was also a leper. He needed healing. When he finally got word from the prophet Elisha, the instruction was simple: “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times” (2 Kings 5:10).

Naaman did not like that instruction. It offended his pride. He expected something dramatic, something public, something impressive. Instead, he got a muddy river and a simple command.

But when he humbled himself and obeyed, there the miracle occurred.

Sometimes God’s instructions do not make sense to our natural minds. Sometimes they feel too small, too humbling, or too ordinary. But the power is not in our preference — the power is in obedience to the word of the Lord!

Naaman found out that the place he nearly rejected was the place where his healing waited.

How often do we do the same? We want God to move, but we resist the path He chose. Yet when we obey, healing, freedom, and breakthrough meet us in that place!

2 Kings 5:14  “So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan… and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child.”

Reflection Questions:
Have I resisted a simple instruction from God because it did not match my expectations?
Is pride blocking my obedience in any area?
What step of humility may be connected to my breakthrough?

Never underestimate a simple act of obedience. The place you least expected may be the very place where God performs your miracle!
