Before compassion ever flows through us, it flows from Him.

When the Lord revealed Himself to Moses, He didn’t first say, “I am powerful.” He said, “I am compassionate and gracious.” Compassion is not something God does — it is who He is.

The Hebrew word Raham carries the picture of a mother’s tender love for the child of her womb. That is how God looks at you — not distant, not cold, not irritated — but moved with deep, tender love.

Yes, He corrects. Yes, He disciplines. But He never deals with us according to what we fully deserve. His mercy triumphs.

You are not serving a harsh God. You are serving a compassionate Father.

Reflection Questions

Do I truly believe God is compassionate toward me?

Where have I viewed Him as distant or disappointed instead of tender?

What would change if I lived convinced of His mercy?

You are deeply loved — not barely tolerated. God’s compassion toward you is fresh today. Let that truth settle into your heart.
